My Approach
How my personal experiences have formed my counselling style...
I am very passionate about working with individuals and families. My approach to counselling is relational, trauma-informed and spiritually integrated. I incorporate several therapeutic practices such as mindfulness, breath work, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy), solution-focused therapy, play therapy, art therapy and sand tray therapy. I work according to the unique goals of my clients and my work is firmly rooted in my relationship with God. Having worked for 18 years as a Youth Counsellor, paired with my background of faith, I understand how to support and work equally well with those who have religious beliefs and those who do not. I also understand intimately how schools and classrooms function, the challenges children face and how we can work together with your child's teachers and schools to best support your child. A lot of my work's focus is, but is not limited to, self-regulation, grief, anger, anxiety, self-esteem, depression, divorce, teen-related issues and parenting.

I have a unique heart and passion for those experiencing grief because of my own story, after the sudden death of my oldest son in 2007. Since then, I have felt a calling to work with hurting and grieving families because I understand firsthand. This experience has caused me to develop a unique way of connecting with my clients and has deepened my compassion and empathy.

I feel privileged to walk this journey toward healing with you!
